We are expanding our team with the newly created role of Property Maintenance Technician.

Role Overview

Reporting to the Garage Manager the Property Maintenance Technician is a ‘jack of all trades’ who oversees all installation, repair and maintenance operations of Frontiers North Adventures facilities in Churchill.

The position requires a solid understanding of plumbing, electrical systems and carpentry. The Property Maintenance Technician is well-versed in all maintenance practices and health and safety regulations. The goal is to ensure the company facilities are well-cared for and provide excellent support for the company’s business operations.

As the Property Maintenance Technician, you will:

  • Work with the Operations Manager to establish and manage a maintenance plan and perform all electrical/plumbing/carpentry repairs and maintenance for the Frontiers North
  • Adventures and Tundra Inn facilities including but not limited to the: Tundra Inn Hotel, Hostel, Pub and Restaurant, retail and administrative establishments, staff housing and the Tundra Buggy garage
  • Inspect, assemble, install, test and maintain electrical/plumbing systems and components of machinery and equipment to identify hazards, defects and the need for adjustment or repair, ensuring compliance with codes
  • Handle any emergency situations including, but not limited to, snow removal and frozen pipes
  • Clearly report details of work completion based on the maintenance plan
  • Provide suggestions on project improvements
  • Participate in training sessions to keep up to date of equipment on site
  • Work collaboratively with other members of the Frontiers North Adventures and Tundra Inn teams
  • Contribute to maintaining a positive, safe and healthy work environment with the full support, cooperation and commitment to satisfy our operation's goal of being accident-free
  • Comply with federal and provincial acts and regulations, and legal requirements
  • Adhere to all relevant corporate policies and procedures

You bring:

  • Previous experience in trades such as plumbing, electrical and carpentry
  • Experience in maintenance operations
  • Solid understanding of technical aspects of plumbing, carpentry, electrical systems
  • Working knowledge of facilities and equipment management
  • Strength in working in a fast-paced, changing environment
  • Ability to work independently
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Collaborative team player
  • Valid Driver’s License

Work Conditions:

  • Ability to work in extreme remote and cold conditions
  • Ability to work with limited onsite supervision
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs, climb ladders, work in crawl spaces and excel in a physically demanding role
  • Flexibility to work on call and over-time as required
