RESTAURANT MANAGER

The Tundra Inn is currently seeking a seasonal full-time Restaurant Manager to work at our Churchill, Manitoba location from June to December, with opportunity for growth into a permanent position.

Located on a quiet side street in a northern town, the Tundra Dining Room & Pub is a favourite local restaurant serving up home-cooked meals with a regional arctic twist. It’s the perfect place to enjoy a warm, welcoming evening after a full day of exploring Churchill’s wonders.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION

Reporting to the Director of Operations and working directly with the Hotel Manager, the Restaurant Manager will be responsible for delivering a quality menu and motivating restaurant staff to provide excellent customer service. The main responsibility is to ensure efficient restaurant operations as well as maintain high production, productivity, quality and customer service standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Coordinate daily front of house restaurant operations

Deliver superior service and maximize customer satisfaction

Respond efficiently and accurately to customer concerns

Regularly review product quality

Hire, train and supervise restaurant employees

Schedule, organize and supervise shifts

Appraise staff performance and provide feedback to improve productivity 

Along with the Head chef, establish menus & pricing and estimate future needs for goods, utensils and cleaning products

Ensure compliance with sanitation and safety regulations & coordinate required inspections

Oversee seasonal startup and shutdown of restaurant

Manage restaurant’s good image and suggest ways to improve it

Control operational costs and identify measures to cut waste

Create detailed reports on weekly, monthly and annual revenues and expenses and manage daily & end of season balancing

Promote the brand in the local community through word-of-mouth and restaurant events

Implement policies and protocols that will maintain future restaurant operations

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Proven work experience as a Restaurant Manager, Restaurant General Manager, Hospitality Manager or similar role

Proven customer service experience as a manager

Extensive food and beverage (F&B) knowledge

Familiarity with restaurant management software, like Squirrel or OpenTable

Financial management skills

Strong leadership, motivational and people skills

Flexible and resourceful with challenges that come from being in a remote location

Degree in Business Administration; hospitality management or culinary schooling is an asset
