Role Overview

Our ideal candidate is a self-motivated team player who is passionate about conducting life and business in a sustainable manner.  As a number’s expert, your ability to decipher the story that financial data can tell - paired with your critical eye for the smallest of details – will make you an invaluable member of our team. As the Manager of Accounting, your role is key in collecting, analyzing, verifying and reporting financial information to monitor the health of our business. You will provide leadership and support to the Finance and Accounting team and act as an advisor and leader to other business units and a resource to suppliers and vendors. 

Your responsibilities include:

  • Recruit, develop and lead a team of qualified, professional and capable employees in the Finance and Accounting department
  • Effectively coach and develop staff to make good decisions and deliver high quality service to the business unit teams
  • Perform month end closing procedures and prepare full internal monthly financial reports for senior management
  • Analyze revenue and expenses
  • Prepare product pricing recommendations 
  • Prepare journal entries
  • Manage wire transfer and EFT payments
  • Prepare reconciliation of balance sheet accounts and journalize any adjustments
  • Prepare statutory returns and remittances
  • Oversee the payroll process and administer corporate health benefit program 
  • Ability to respond appropriately to accounting questions from team members, management, vendors and clients
  • Management of Corporate Credit card program
  • Liaise with external auditors
  • Office Administration functions
  • Special Projects

As the ideal candidate you have the following qualifications: 

  • Minimum 5 years of experience of progressive accounting experience with a portion of it being in a supervisory role
  • Working towards or have achieved a CPA designation 
  • Accounting diploma or Bachelor of Commerce degree; 
  • Strong computer skills (accounting software, excel and word)
  • Strong communication skills (both oral and written)
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Strong critical thinking skills
  • Attention to detail 
  • The ability to work independently as well as collaboratively as part of a team.
