Frontiers North Adventures is currently looking for a Controller to join our team in Winnipeg!

Role Overview

If you have a sharp pencil and are an individual who strives to conduct  life and business in a sustainable manner then we are interested in hearing from you.  As a numbers expert, your ability to decipher the story told through financial data - paired with your critical eye for details – will make you an invaluable member of our team. As the Controller, your role is key in collecting, analyzing, verifying and reporting financial information to monitor the health of our business. You will provide leadership and support to the Finance and Accounting team and act as an advisor and leader to other business units and a resource to suppliers and vendors.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Provide analysis and recommendations to various business unit within the company
  • Review and implement corporate initiatives with the goal of improving operations
  • Supervise a Finance and Accounting team of qualified professional and capable employees in their day to day tasks of accounts payable, accounts receivable, tax filings, payroll and corporate oversight
  • Effectively coach and develop staff to make good decisions and deliver even higher quality service to the business units
  • Perform monthly and yearly closing procedures and prepare full internal financial reports for senior management
  • Prepare Corporate Social Responsibility reports 
  • Prepare and monitor budgets and forecasts
  • Prepare product pricing recommendations
  • Oversee payment processing
  • Oversee reconciliation of balance sheet accounts and journalize any adjustments
  • Oversee statutory returns and remittances
  • Oversee the payroll process and administer corporate health benefit program 
  • Management of Corporate Credit card program
  • Liaise with external auditors
  • Office Administration functions

As the ideal candidate you have the following qualifications: 

  • Minimum 5 years of experience of progressive accounting experience with a portion of it being in a supervisory role
  • Working towards or have achieved a CPA designation 
  • Accounting diploma or Bachelor of Commerce degree; 
  • Strong computer skills (large accounting software package, excel and word)
  • Strong communication skills (both oral and written)
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Strong critical thinking and interpersonal skills
  • Attention to detail 
  • The ability to work independently as well as collaboratively as part of a team.
