Gear Rental Attendant - Job Description (two positions)

Position: Sales and Guest Relations - Gear Rental Attendant

Seasonal - Averaging eight to ten weeks per year, three hours per day

Position Overview

Frontiers North Adventures (FNA) specializes in providing guests with unique and memorable cultural and wildlife excursions in Canada's north. To enhance guests' experience, FNA is offering Churchill-bound guests during October and November the opportunity to rent Winter Gear upon arrival in Winnipeg.

Working closely with FNA's Winnipeg-based team, specifically the Sales and Guest Relations Manager and their team, this position is responsible for administering the sale, return, cleaning and inventory management of parkas rented by FNA guests. This includes upholding Frontiers North Adventures' guest service standards ensuring they are maintained and all internal control standards are followed.


Customer Service & Support

  • Delight our guests and enhance the Frontiers North Adventures experience through excellent customer service.
  • Provide sales coverage during October and November.
  • Ensure all signage is appropriate displayed in the Sheraton Four Points Airport, doors and other designated areas.
  • At the beginning of each shift, pull the appropriate inventory and load rolling racks with parkas for northbound traveling guests. Ensure rolling rack is available to gather parkas from guests traveling southbound from Churchill arriving at the Sheraton Four Points Airport.
  • Ensure inventory is appropriately recorded, cleaned and stored daily. Process and accept payment for impromptu orders. Follow daily payment administration procedures.
  • Coordinate with Frontiers North guides to confirm which of their guests require gear rentals. Ensure available gear inventory is on hand for guests who may not have pre booked their gear and may be interested in doing so. Provide a report to the FNA Guides confirming gear rentals.
  • For impromptu bookings, appropriately size and fit guests departing for Churchill, ensuring they understand the proper use, storage and care of the Winter Gear. Explain the terms of use, and how they arrange for return of the gear once they return to Winnipeg.
  • Provide pro active product knowledge and advice to guests using the merchandise. Answer guest questions and problem solve guest concerns as they arise.
  • Responsible for the daily processing and spot cleaning of incoming gear from guests. Make arrangements for required dry cleaning pick up and drop off.
  • Inventory, set up, pack up, clean and shut down at season’s end.


Skills, Education and Experience

  • The competencies for the position would typically be acquired through the achievement of a high school education plus one or more years of job related experience in a sales and customer service environment.

Technical Competencies

It is expected the incumbent will possess a working level of knowledge and skills in the following competencies:

  • Sales and customer service skills.
  • Communication skills.
  • Problem identification and resolution skills.
  • Proficient using computers and technology.
  • Knowledge of relevant philosophies, principles, legislation, regulations, policies and procedures.
