RAW:churchill Getaway Package: The Experience

Get whisked away aboard a Calm Air flight from Winnipeg to Churchill, Manitoba. Upon arrival you will check into your hotel room, excited for the evening ahead. In just a few hours you will be crossing the frozen Churchill River by Tundra Buggy® to the snow steeped Prince of Wales Fort National Historic Site. There, protected within the fort’s walls, you'll find our one of a kind “pop-up” restaurant, heated for your comfort, with a transparent roof for northern lights viewing. Once here you will enjoy the RAW:churchill fine dining experience;  a multi-course menu meticulously curated by Canadian chef Mandel Hitzer, which features world class cuisine inspired by regional delicacies from land and sea.

After dinner, meander back to Churchill aboard the Tundra Buggy for a good night's sleep at your comfortable accommodations. The next day, you will return back to Winnipeg by air, still dreaming about the ultimate culinary experience you just had.

About RAW:churchill

RAW:churchill is an extraordinary culinary tourism product created by Frontiers North Adventures President and CEO John Gunter and the creators of Winnipeg’s award-winning RAW:almond; Chef Mandel Hitzer and architect Joe Kalturnyk.

Diners will enjoy a world-class meal underneath the northern lights prepared by Chef Mandel Hitzer in the same spot that the Hudson's Bay Company adventurers would have more than 300 years ago, right within the walls of Prince of Wales Fort National Historic Site.

From the town of Churchill, guests will travel across the frozen Churchill River in a Tundra Buggy to Prince of Wales Fort National Historic Site. Once there, protected from weather and wildlife by the fort's 6.5 metre (21 feet) tall and 11 metre (36 feet) thick stone walls, guests will experience fine cuisine and spirits in a heated transparent-roof 'pop-up' restaurant, designed by RAW:almond co-founder and designer Joe Kalturnyk.

Churchill is located directly under the auroral oval, with aurora activity occurring over 300 nights per year (weather permitting), and the RAW:churchill structure has been designed purposefully with a transparent roof to take advantage of the opportunity for guests to dine while northern lights dance overhead.
