Don’t Forget to Bring a Bottle on the Tundra Buggy
When people travel to Churchill, whether it’s in summer or in autumn, they usually experience an official Tundra Buggy Adventure as part of their trip. People planning a trip to Churchill normally remember to include items like gloves, warm clothing, and a camera on their packing list. Lately we’ve noticed there is one thing that is often overlooked; a reusable, sealable travel mug or water bottle to drink from out on the tundra.
Say No to Plastic
As a sustainably focused travel company we are always looking for ways to reduce our waste and consumption throughout our operating season. Last year, in honour of World Water Day, we took the Travelers Against Plastic (TAP) Pledge to go water bottle-free. Instead of using disposable plastic water bottles on our Tundra Buggies, we are encouraging our guests to bring their own reusable water bottle that can be filled with clean drinking water on board.
What does this mean?
By phasing out the use of manufactured plastic bottles on our Tundra Buggies, we are helping to reduce the consumption of fossil fuels used to produce plastic bottles and carbon dioxide emitted into our atmosphere when bottles are transported. On top of all that, we’re keeping plastic out of landfills!

Tundra Buggy Packing List
Don’t forget to pack a water bottle! We no longer supply disposable plastic water bottles on our Tundra Buggies; we encourage our guests to bring their own sealable, reusable water bottle that can be filled with clean drinking water, coffee, hot chocolate or whatever you want while on board the Tundra Buggy.
What Kind of Bottle Should I Bring?
- Sealable – the Tundra Buggy can be very bumpy and doesn’t have cup holders. A sealable water bottle or mug means your drink won’t get spilled if it gets knocked over in your seat.
- Insulated – bring a insulated bottle or mug that you can use to keep coffee hot in the morning or can be rinsed out and used for a cool drink of water at the end of the day.
- Tough – don’t bring a glass water bottle. Instead, bring one that is aluminum or sturdy plastic that can handle the bumps of the Tundra Buggy.

What if I forget?
If you do forget to bring your own reusable bottle or mug, don’t worry; we do provide cups on the Tundra Buggy if you need one. We also have reusable bottles and mugs for sale at Fifty Eight North.
